Victorian Floral Bangle
No. 148
STORY:
Victorians were fans of layering their jewellery. Their arms were often stacked with rings and bracelet like this sweet scalloped floral bangle.
DESCRIPTION:
This is a costume jewellery example of the fashion at the time. The bracelet is crafted with a brass base metal with a type of silver band coating. Because of the thick silver coating it benefits from an occasional polish with a silver cloth.
Condition: The bracelet is secure and the clasp is strong. There is some wear to the silver coating. You can see in the photos that some of the silver plate coating has split but this does not effect the use or strength of the bracelet at all. It is entirely possible that the bracelet had a repair for this issue in it's earlier life as there is some soldering on the inside of the band. I have tried to capture this wear in the photos below.
Era: Late Victorian
Measurements:
Measures 58mm x 49mm and cannot be stretched or extended as it is a rigid structure.
The bracelet measures 26mm wide
Hallmarks: None
Materials: Silver Coating and Brass Base metal
Provenance: England
