The Revival Collection - Victorian Initial "B" Diamond Charm Necklace
No. 181
The Revival Collection features redesigned one of a kind pieces using antique materials.
The pendant on this necklace was converted from a victorian mourning bracelet slide. Mourning and Sentimental jewellery flourished during the Victorian period. This jewellery was worn as an outward display of keeping someone near. It was an expression of love and remembrance.
DESCRIPTION:
A warm gold frame surrounds a beautifully engraved gothic initial "B". A new gold bale has been added to suspend a new vermeil (gold plated sterling silver) box chain with bolt clasp.
HOW TO WEAR:
Whilst this necklace is perfect for everyday, the victorian metalwork is delicate and easily bent if put under pressure. For this reason, it is recommended this pendent be worn on a shorter chain to prevent any tear or pulls from a sweater etc. The corners are also a wee bit sharp so best to take this beauty off when exercising or undertaking any physical activity. The necklace can be washed with mild soap and water, then polished with a gold jewellery polish cloth.
Condition:
The conversion work on this necklace was completed by a professional jeweller from the famous Hatton Garden jewellery quarter in London, England. So you are buying in excellent condition. Please be mindful though that the pendant itself is well over 100 years old. The colour of the gold on the pendant has a lovely warm rose gold hue. There is a slight difference in the colour of the chain as it the alloys (mixture of metals) used in victorian jewellery differs from today. It is very difficult to notice unless looking for it but feel it important to disclose prior to purchase.
