Art Deco Egyptian Revival Oria Necklace
No. 155
STORY: The French jewellery House Oria is shrouded in mystery. Whilst famous for its high quality imitation gold jewellery dating back to 1867, there is virtually no information on the actual owners or company itself. For the first time, Oria made it possible for the middle classes to wear imitation gold jewellery almost indistinguishable from the real thing.
DESCRIPTION:
This necklace has a thick electro bonded gold coating with contrasting silver metal details. The silver has a wonderful faux marcasite detail intended to mimic the sparkle of precious gems. It is signed Oria on the reverse followed by a French assay mark of some kind which I cannot clearly make out. The stampings are set onto a rectangular cable chain with a bolt ring clasp.
Condition: Very good -There is some minor denting on 2 of the stamping backs. This is not noticeable when wearing and does not affect the fit of the necklace when worn.

The necklace measures 40cm long (excluding the lowest stamping).
The largest stamping measures 18mm x 10mm. .
