Mid Century 'Toi et Moi' White Topaz Ring
It's just you and me
'Toi et Moi' translates from French to 'You and Me'. It refers to one of the most romantic ring styles in history. A ring that features two stones that sit side by side symbolising when two souls become one - the joining of two hearts, souls and lives.
Their tradition dates back centuries to when Napoleon Bonaparte proposed to Josephine de Beauharnais in 1796 with a sapphire and diamond ring version. The 'Toi et Moi' style ring reached the height of it's popularity during the Edwardian and Art Deco periods.
This ring is a lovely mid century example of the timeless 'Toi et Moi' style with two very sparkly white topaz stones nestled atop a raised white gold filigree galleryand gorgeous engraved, cut shoulders
It is a great shape for stacking alongside all your other favourites and equally a perfect gift for that someone special in your life - an anniversary, birthday or a just because present!
The ring is in good antique condition with no defects to report with two brand new white topaz stones. The structure of this ring is very strong and despite its seemingly delicate filigree setting, it is quite durable and could be worn on a daily basis as long as you are not doing any hard manual labour. Even though the setting sits quite high, its rather smooth so not likely to catch on your clothing. Excellent example of brining old and new pieces together in perfect symmetry. The ring has been inspected by a professional goldsmith in the famous Hatton Garden jewellery quarter in London, England.
