Art Deco Pearl and Marcasite Earrings
The Height of Sophistication
No.134
STORY: Stunning little pair of original 1920s drop earrings studded with hand set marcasites and cultured white pearls. Marcasite was very brittle and required skill to hand facet and set the stones into metal.
DESCRIPTION: Striking Aztec, Mayan Revival, motif on chromed silver with new stainless steel french hooks. Pearl drops are original, suspended from a loop from the base of the earrings giving them an extra bit of movement.
HOW TO WEAR: Because of the fragility of the pearls, these earrings must be taken off when showering and stored in a damp-free environment. Care must also be taken that the pearls are not sprayed with any chemicals. So always best to put these earrings on last after all of your cosmetics, hairspray and lotions.
Condition: All stones present, tiny rubbing to sides of the pearls where they bump against the silver. This cannot be seen at all when worn as it is exactly where metal sits although I have taken photos of this wear.
