Art Deco Oria Earrings
Nearly 100 years old and still waiting for their rightful owner.
Since 1867, the french jewellery house Oria has been famous for their imitation gold process. It is some of the best gold plated jewellery ever made and was almost indistinguishable from the real thing.
DESCRIPTION: Geometric drops with an 18ct electro bonded gold coating with silver and tiny glass stone details. The earrings are set into leverback ear wires for comfort and extra protection from loss.
DISCOVERY: These earrings were recovered from the estate of an old french jeweller dating back to WW2 - still complete with their original Oria display card and price tag.
Condition: Excellent - New Old Stock. These earrings are interesting in that they open and close backwards as you can see in the photo. There is a bit of dulling of the brightness in the stones which is to be expected given their age. There is also remnants of an acid test which someone completed on the back of one of the earrings which is clearly seen in the photos. Given their fragility, they should not be worn in the shower or any kind of chlorinated pool as this may loosen the glass stones from their setting and damage the gold coating.
